DrGP, I remember you from the B6 forums way back. I think you had a red B6, as I recall...

I'm surprised the B8 mileage isn't a lot better. I have a tough time achieving anything higher than 19MPG...

I find it hard to believe they improved performance and handling *and* they added 200lbs over my already tank-like B6? Are there any reasonable weight-reduction strategies, or is it super expensive...

Thanks, this is exactly what I was hoping to learn. My current biggest beefs with the B6 were not even considerations for me back in 2004... but I need bigger rear seats going forward, and now that I...

B6 S4 --> B8 S4? Questions for those who made the jump...

It's been a while since I posted on Audiworld. In fact, it says I haven't logged in for almost a year, so pardon the rusty posting skills...

I've owned a B6 S4 since late 2004. It's been my only...

2004 B6 S4 CPO warranty coming to end, what to do?

I bought it slightly used with only 2k miles on it at the end of 2004, but it had been sitting at the dealer for a while, as it was originally purchased Jan 15, 2004 and then returned to that dealer...

I can only speak to my experience with essentially the same car (04 S4, manual). I've owned it for almost 5 years and the maintenance problems I've had so far were:

Coolant temp sensor intermittent. Replace myself?

Coolant temp indicator gauge sometimes shows normal (expected) temps, but randomly jumps to zero.

Want to detail my S4 this weekend starting from scratch. Need product kit and instruction guide.

It's a 2004 and hasn't had any wax or polish in a long time. Clear coat is a little scratchy, but nothing too serious.

I want to do the whole thing in about 6 hours. I'm prepared to skip a few of...

G12+ coolant: add 50/50 w/distilled H2O?

Noticed my coolant level was below minimum. Got some G12+. No idea what the ratio is in there already, but if I add some, should I go say 50% coolant with 50% distilled water?

The only thing that is a complete waste of human effort is your unqualified opinion.

How about you tell us what you like or don't like about it as a concept... or perhaps you think you can design something better?

Agree. It's a fantastic piece of concept art by a talented student...

Think of it as automotive brainstorming. If designers didn't push the limits of what's considered "normal" in a car, we'd never have gotten airbags, rear view mirrors, air conditioning, windshield...

Changing tires is an expensive proposition at this point. How long do shocks last?

I'm gonna start by getting the tires rebalanced, an alignment done and we'll see where we are with that.

I know it should be 500, but trust me, it's not the oil thing. The tires are *very* grippy.

Anyone in south SF bay area or peninsula with a stock suspension B6S4 willing to drive my car?

Lug bolts were checked today, All properly torqued.

Do you think being out of alignment would cause this problem? The car tracks reasonably straight.

Long story short: Got a new set of tires (Eagle F1 Asymmetrics) and the car is handling really sloppy -- as if the sway bars were removed or something (Streetwerke says they're fine). I don't think...

Answers... any further ideas?

I'm not sure how many miles the tire shop put on and it's nearly a week later now, so little chance at figuring that out, but it wouldn't have been more than about 10 miles based on the time they...
