2 part reply:

First, vB can't handle the number of posts previously handled by kawf.
Second, in your opinion.

If it isn't broke... don't fix it.

Try to avoid

pressure washing.

Seriously, these cars are very picky when it comes to resistance. If you must, take care to avoid the TPS, MFTS, or any other connector for that matter. In fact, I would...

I get spurts of good mileage, it's just inconsistent...

Something is telling the engine to up the mixture, not sure what yet.

I also have a surging idle, not sure if that's related.

I'm getting very poor mileage after upgrading to the 034 injectors, coincidence... I think so.

I'm thinking something has gone haywire with the mixture control. Either the O2 Sensor is bad or the coolant sensor is bad. I'm going to have these checked out, anything else I should look out for...

A question about a 1990 Coupe radiator...

It would seem that my mechanic was having a hell of a time locating a radiator that matches the one currently installed. Has anyone else had a problem matching these parts up?

They also had the...

I don't have the time or place...

I used to do all my own work but the car's in good shape and it's still cheaper than a car payment.

There are several issues at play here... the CAT is the least of my problems.

PCV is clogged causing piston ring oil bypass pressure to cause oil burning. Hitachi injectors are getting replaced with 034 kit, Timing belt is due now so that's getting done along with a new...

Yeah I'm in SoCal now...

Got a new pilot job down here. Flying a Learjet.

The detail Blake did last time was fantastic. I highly recommend you pay him a visit.

The car has always run good... that's got me thinking CAT...

just a slow deterioration of performance over the past 5 years. They do wear out and the clogged PCV can clog a good cat. We'll see what they come up with. I'm hating my rental car, some Nissan...

Well, I'll join the crew of people whos cars have recently failed SMOG...

121 out of 120 max HC allowable at IDLE. Cruise HC levels were only 60ppm. Sounds like the CAT is on it's way out. That might get replaced but we'll see. She's due for a timing belt job, new hoses,...

So I just moved back to So-Cal, who's a good wrench for a 1990 Coupe Quattro?

I used to go to Ingostadt West in Canoga when I lived in the Valley. Is there another, similar place, any recommendations for a timing belt service and a small list of other items?

IIRC if you have them out...

you can have any hose shop make them up for you. They'll braise the connections onto a new end and whip em up real quick.

I did this for a 5000 power steering line I had that burst, cost me $15.

Do you have a Bentley?

I'm guessing not. I don't have mine at work today or I'd scan the wiring diagram for ya.

Pentosin specifies that neither be mixed. Although both are compatible with the respective systems.

If you're unsure, just drain the system of fluid and refill with new. Easy enough.

OIC what you did there.

nice.

BTW, I'm still trying to work something out with Tom and the A4. We're working opposite schedules for a little bit so I might be delayed until next month. I'll let you know when we get this...
