"older style" coil packs work

The older style packs were used on '99 cars, but they work just as well on newer cars. I used them on my GTI with no problems.

My AITs are of course dependent on the ambient temps, but I measured...

My car was running perfect

Plus, my trouble-shooting is systematic. If a DV is failing, it's going to fail holding boost. I have no problem holding 19 to 20 psi all day long as long as I don't go over 5000 rpm. Same for the...

I'm happy with Curry's

In fairness to Curry's, I haven't returned the car to them to troubleshoot. They have been great and I have been working with them over the phone to troubleshoot the car myself. I'm asking the...

How restrictive is the stock exhaust?

Can the stock exhaust flow enough to smoothly sustain 17-20 psi of turbo pressure at 5000+ rpm?

I have recently installed a K04-15 and gotten the appropriate K04 GIAC file, but am gettin boost...

Maybe too much backpressure?

I have the stock downpipe and exhaust still. What should the max airflow be?

Me too

I also have that Ecsta ASXs on my 99.5 A4 and my '00 Aero, but they wear quickly on the Aero. For the price though, they are about the cheapest out there.

Used it once in the past

I used it in my 2000 VW Jetta years ago and it caused the coolant to become brownish with some sediment. VW uses the same G-12 coolant, so I would NOT recommend it. The G-12 is pretty good stuff,...

Yes, previous versions will work with your car

...but version 4 requires the new cable. You need version 3 if you are going to use somebody else's cable.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/archives.html">VAG-COM Previous...

Goodrich Traction T/A

One of the best "cheap" all season tires I've ever used. Plus it's 60,000 mile. I had it on my GTI and have it on my A4. It's also one of the top-rated tires at TireRack.

It's more than just a cable

It's actually an "intelligent" cable with a hardware key. Besides that, you are paying for the functionality of VAG-COM and not just the hardware. VAG-COM is invaluable! Don't open the hood...

Helicoil

Check any auto parts store. You will have to remove the turbo to get to the hole.

Brand New...

I installed a new one when I put the turbo in. I thought it might be that too, but like I said, I can hold 19-20 psi with no problem until I hit about 5000 rpm.

GIAC K04 Software is in!

And the car is simply awesome! The boost peaks at 22 psi and holds steady at 19-20 psi. However, when I hit about 5000 rpm under load, the boost "sometimes" (about half of the time) becomes very...

How will you feel three years from now?

New cars are always as nice as they'll ever be. You have to ask how you will feel about it in 3 to 5 years, if you can project that far with the car.

My A4s are 5, 6, and 7 years old and I...

Problem solved! And the winner is...

ModifiedA4

It was in fact a pinched N75 line...the one from the compressor to the N75. That's why the overboost kit didn't work. I wasn't getting enough boost to open the wastegate.

It was...

I wasn't sure what to expect...

But I was looking at AWE's kit and it showed cooler plugs (I assume) and a 5 bar fpr. Maybe I was premature. I will put the 4 bar back in, swap the N75H for another I have, and check that there are...

OK, but I've used a 5 bar fpr before

I've used a 5 bar fpr in the past and it adds about 11% fueling, but it's never caused these symptoms.

I put the 5 bar in more for safety reasons until I can upgrade my software. I'd rather run...

Re: you're running rich as hell....

Ok. I put about 40 miles on the car this morning on the way to work (and will need to drive home this afternoon). However, I do have a VAG-COM in the car so I will check my fuel trims. After...

Re: you're using the wrong FPR for your software. Don't blame the turbo

What does the FPR have to do with the erratic boost?

This is a new K04...

Is this symptomatic of a bad acuator? Anything else I should check?

By N75 plumbing...

I assume you mean the pressure line off of the compressor to the N75, and from the N75 to the wastegate actuator. Is that right? I'll check and make sure.

How was yours pinched?

Got the K04-15 in...now I need software!

Whoever said you can run a K04 on K03 software and just not have maximum performance? The implication is that you would get a little more power, but just not maximize the benefit of the K04. Let me...
