Winter tire for S 7
I am anxiously waiting for my S7 to arrive. In the meanwhile i have been looking for a winter tire set. According to tire rack I can go as small as 235/55-17. This would be best Winter tracking because all other tires bigger than 17 are 255 wide.
I am not sure if the tire would actually fit the car does anyone know the actual brake housing clearance required

For the 2012 A7 the Audi recommended winter set up is 235/45 19, which they sell as a winter package so they are available: http://microsites.audiusa.com/ngw/11...es/A7_2012.jpg
I will be looking for winters as well (once my S7 finally arrives) but I plan to use a 19" winter setup (I live in Canada). I don't know for sure, but I doubt a 17" rim will fit over the brakes.

If you happen to get a rim, try it on the front wheel before mounting a tire on it.

I would like the smallest diameter and width for Winter package. I read from an unconfirmed source that 18" might fit but like to confirm, kinda hard since no one has the car yet

The problem is because its a new model, no one has test fitted the tires, so I would not have confidence in the tire sizing tools on the web. Your best bet may be to contact tire rack and talk to them about your questions, get a couple of opinions and then make sure they have a good return policy before you order.

Be careful selecting your rim size
Just picked up my S7. The brake callipers are huge so be very careful if you want pick a smaller size rims. I am sure 18" won't fit and 19" would be very close.

Winter Tires on S7
I am picking up my S7 next Wednesday. Glacier White. My last 3 cars have been a BMW X6, Mercedes
GL550 and an Audi A7. I have used Continental DWS 20" on all 3. I intend to use them on my S7 with
20's. when I get the tires switched on Thursday.
Best snow tires I ever used. They are worth checking out.

I saw a prepped S7 at my local dealer, with the 19" factory winter tire package. There was barely enough clearance between the wheel and caliper to slide a piece of paper between the two of them. I highly doubt any 18" wheel will fit.

I just tried to fit my 19" A7 winter wheels on my new S7 and there was insufficient clearance with the big S7 calipers. I had to to go with new 20" package for my S7.

S7 Front Wheels
I just tried to put my 20" Vossen CV3 wheels from my A7 to my S7. They are 20x9. Back wheels were
ok but the fronts were not even close.
Just a thought if you are looking at after-market wheels.
