Default Wheel options

Board,

I have bent 6 wheels so far on my S6 and I have had enough.

Does anyone have suggestions? I would love something simple from Tirerack but their system is telling me I have no good options. I want BBS CH-R but they are only showing them for the RS5 in the 20x9 size with 25mm offset, 6.02" backspace and 5-112 bolt pattern and the dolts on the other end of the line will not give me the insight I need.

I have seen others mount CH-Rs with the ET25 configuration using 265/35-20 tires and their feed back is that this has been successful.

Thanks much in advance,

db

Default you win

I bent three and damaged (replaced) two tires in a year - and I have 19" wheels. I think 20" would be worse, though it seems more economical since there are lower priced choices. There is a company on the west coast that sells German wheels that are supposed to work well - can't recall the name. I don't know if the Audi wheels are particularly prone to bends. Thus far, 2 of 3 were straightened successfully.

I've got no direct experience with bending, but in your situation I'd look for a heavy forged 6061 t6 wheel. Here's a site that has a lot of info:

just a heads up, i had a set of 18" forged bbs rg-r's on my old is300 in 18's, ending up bending two on a pretty big pot hole going around 50mph. i just don't want you to be under the impression that forged = indestructible lol.

My CH-R's have been fine for ~20k miles, and central New York has many potholes. I was unable to source an Audi center cap, which I wanted for understatement.

There are plenty of options. Tirerack has very limited information on fitment, especially for rarer cars. Check out VMR wheels for low cost wheels that look nice. If you happen to damage one of these, you won't feel so bad. Obviously your 19" wheels aren't the best quality. Also, what tire pressures are you running?

Here is a pic of the VMR 708 20x9 ET35 with 265/35/20 Michelin Pilot Supersport tires:

as someone who literally picks up his new s6 in about 12 hours and is considering some expensive HRE wheels, I gotta know, how the heck did you bend 6 wheels??
