Default Skipping Tracks from the Steering Wheel

This is my first post ever on AudiWorld. I've had my 2017 S6 for a little over a year, and the only way I can find to skip tracks/songs is to take my hand off the steering wheel and use the buttons next to the volume mounting on the right side of the shifter. Is there something I'm missing here, or is there a way to skip from the steering wheel? After countless nights of tossing and turning in bed due to this first world issue, I thought it was finally time to get help. Thanks in advance!

If you have heated steering wheel, then it is not possible. If not, then you can program the Asterik button on the steering wheel to skip to next song, unfortunately, it only skips to next track and not previous track...Hope this helps.

To add to this, the wildcard button doesn't always skip to the next track for all input sources when set to do so. For example, if you use CarPlay and fire up Amazon Music, it will not skip to the next track in your cue. Super frustrating, especially if you use Amazon Music as a prime source of music. However, it does work for other apps within CarPlay such as Apple Music you've downloaded, Podcasts, etc.... It's really a trial and error to see if it works with what you're listening too.

I programmed the asterisk button to skip tracks. It works when streaming music via bluetooth from my phone. However, it doesn't integrate with Carplay - so I still need to use the console button for this.
That is if I recall correctly, haven't driven my S6 for three weeks

If you use the arrow button on the left side of the wheel to click over to where song title appears, it should list the tracks and you can use the wheel to scroll down and select the next track.
