S6, ordered!
I recently picked up a '13 A6 3.0 with pretty much all the bells and whistles. The car is fantastic. Even with a V6 it can get moving very quickly. I just really miss the guttural sound of a good V8. So today with only 6,500 miles on the A6 I place an order for an S6 that will be arriving in 5-6 months. Going to be a brutal wait!
2014 S6 / Estoril Blue
Carbon Atlas inlay
Lunar silver seats
Innovation + Driver Assist
20" 5 Arm Rotor wheels + Black Optics
Full LED
B&O

I asked, said they used all of theirs up. They were able to get 2 S7s and an RS7 before getting an S6. The wait will bug me but it gives me time to pay down any negative equity on the A6.

I ordered a 2014 S6 arctic silver/black a month ago and expect delivery in about 2 weeks in San Jose. It was on the boat when I ordered it; lucky it was pretty much what I wanted (most of the dealers are ordering them fairly loaded and I didn't want the Innovation or B&O). Had to test drive a S7 since dealer had no S6's!
Looking for somebody in the San Jose area who has experience with the Vag-Com Ross Tech.

I never understood this whole "allocation" thing. It's one thing for dealer bought showroom stock, but for a customer order, why should there be an "allocation". If a customer orders it, Audi should supply it.

It's simple. Not all dealerships are equal as they are independently owned franchises. If they were all factory owned, like Tesla, each order will get you a number on line based on the sequence the orders are received. Otherwise, it's like all the other brands where the more volume a dealership sells, the greater their allocation slots.

I think they mentioned they have a slot that would make the delivery faster but at 5 months I would have almost no negative equity. I test drove an S7 and the feel of the car starting up with that V8 was amazing, can't wait!

You have to earn allocation with Audi.
Cars are in tight supply, and the days of just getting whatever you want in a short amount of time are over.
Audi will usualy fill SOLD ORDER S6's in a timely manner, though. So even if you're at a small dealer, it shouldn't take more than 4 months to special order an S6 from start to finish. Any most of the time it's cloer to 3.
