Default Ordered a set of HREs! Width question.

I placed a deposit for a set of HRE is 21" x 10" at Wheels Boutique. I'll let HRE and Ben at WB take care of the offsets as they are experts at it. I won't yet disclose the model, color, and other details, since I'll post with pictures as soon as they arrive. But I do have a question for the forum.

I ordered 21" x 10". Wheels Boutique claims I can go as wide as 10.5, but that sounds a little too aggressive. I asked for 10" Does anyone have experience with this size and are there any rubbing issues? Any input? I know Juggernaut had HREs in this size and I didn't see any reports of rubbing on the forum.

The tires will be Michelin Super Sport 265/30/21.

I bought Juggernaut's HREs. Haven't mounted them yet but from his pix, they look perfect. Think 10.5 would be too aggressive.

My wheels are 9" ET25 which I personally find to be on the aggressive side, but I didn't have a lot of offset choices with the wheel I chose. My favorite offset calculator says my dimensions push my wheel outward by 26mm compared to stock (8.5" ET45).

Most of the tuners like to push the wheel outward with a very aggressive offset (some folks call it "poke" I understand) and run stretched tires to prevent rubbing. If you don't like the look, you may want to check with your dealer to get an idea of the tire size they intend to use. I don't like the stretched look personally. (Here is an extreme example of stretched tires.)

I don't have a definitive answer for you. I simply want to caution you that you may require a (slightly) stretched tire to clear the fenders.

I also bought my HRE from Ben at WB. He was indicating that I could go to 10" width, but I felt that would be too aggressive, so I went with 9.5" instead, and for me they are perfect. I am also running a 275/30 tire and I have a lot of rim protection. Agree with the other posters about not liking the stretched look.

Thanks for the info.

The specs on the Michelin PSS call for a 9" to 10" rim on the 265/30/21. It's at the top end, but still within the recommended range. 9.5" would fall right in the middle. I didn't see any excessive stretching on Mik34/Juggernaut's wheels, but they aren't offering tons of edge protection either. Tough choice, obviously the 10" would offer more concaveness while the 9.5" would fir the tire better.

RobC - ET 47

S6Express... here is a link to a thread from a while ago when I got the wheels. Hard to see from my pics how much edge overlap I have, but it's a decent amount.

Thanks. Leaning towards 9.5. Waiting on a call from WB to finalize the order.

I'd personally probably go 9.5" @ ET42 and 275 tire, but a few millimeters doesn't look like a lot when looking at a ruler.
