Default GIAC Software

Surprised I haven't seen anything about this on here (unless I missed it).

Is anyone running the new GIAC software? If so, what are your thoughts? Did you get just the engine upgrade, or the tranny upgrade too?

According to GIAC, the combo is on special right now for $2000. The engine upgrade is good for 77/123 on 91 octane.

I haven't seen an official post about it here, but there are a few references. The other site has more info on it, including the official release and some posts from people who have it.

Do they have pricing on their website or did I just miss it?

It's funny because APR went the other way: limiting torque on the DSG until the clutch was fully engaged.

Sounds like the GIAC engine/tranny tune will definitely create a more agressive combo. I hope the DSG can survive the extra pressure?

Here's the details on the S-Tronic Tune

GIAC S-Tronic software features:

Shift points raised +200 RPM in drive, sport and manual modes.

Torque control optimization for faster, smoother shifting.

Clutch pack clamping pressure increase to support higher torque levels.

Launch control raised +200 RPM, with full torque on launch.

Torque requests and limits raised.

Part throttle torque control recalibrated for a more responsive feel.

That's a lot of bang for the buck.

Is there anyone in Chicago land area, northwest suburbs preferably, with APR tune who will be willing to meet and compare GIAC vs APR? I am not suggesting street racing, just car's drivability in drive mode as far as throttle response and etc. If some is interested and will be willing to meet, please PM me.

I have been told that GAIC/APR tune will void the warranty. Is there truth to that?

Do an AudiWorld search on tuning and warranty. There are more threads on the subject than holes in an Audi ventilated seat.
