Default MMI Volume Control - Fixed for $7.00

I had an issue with my 2014 S6 MMI volume control and wanted to share my experience.

The Problem: When rotating the volume **** to increase the volume it would occasionally decrease, often by a large amount. Over time it grew worse to the point where I could not increase the volume much at all without it dropping down to mute every few clicks. I had to use the volume on the steering wheel instead. Inconvenient, but workable.

During my last service I asked my Audi dealer to look into the issue - they told me it would cost about $1,100.00 to replace the part that has the volume control. I wasn't going to spend that much so I searched for alternate solutions. The first thing I tried was DEOXIT Contact Cleaner ($7.00 for 2oz tube on Amazon). I pulled off the volume know, squirted about 15% of the tube around the shaft, jiggled and rotated the shaft a while, and waited overnight. The next day the problem was completely gone. Volume control back to normal.

Nice!

Mine's been doing that and is on the list for dealer to fix under warranty, if it does it again I'll definitely try the deoxit trick.

Sorry for taking so long to reply...
No, the **** is rather easy to pull off. Just grab the knurled edge firmly and pull straight up.
