Lights out!
Just got into my s6 to drive into town and upon starting the engine, the two big dials (tach and speedo) are dark, no readings at all. I have the setting straight-up. (NOT ON AUTO). Everything else on the dash lights up but those two dials. When I turn the dial to manual headlights, the two dials work fine. Anyone else have this happen? Any thoughts? ( I have about 12,000 miles since Sept '12 on the car.)

If your light dial is straight up that means off. In the manual it specifies if your lights are explicitly off the dial lights will darken as it gets darker outside to getyour attention to turn your lights on, this is by design and not a fault.
If you move your light dial to any other position they should turn on.
I pull in backwards into my parking spot in my parking garage. When I start my car I always put it straight up so my headlights don't blind people who drive past and my dials always go dark.
