Help! WTF is this LOUD sound?
Car is a 2013 Audi S6

Just started happening. There are some similar videos online, but I am not able to determine what it is similar to. I figure somebody on here with a better ear than I will be able to tell me.
Car is covered under warranty, so my main concern is drivability until I get it to the dealer.

- The sound can be heard outside the car from 100 feet away, it's that loud.
- Definitely coming from the engine compartment.
- Does not seem to change with engine RPM.
- AC/Heat does not matter

After watching a couple of videos the problem you described does not seem to sound anything like what I have going on. Also, it seems that only much older audi's come up when searching for this (~2000).
I am far from a mechanic though.

I watched both videos and the one linked by BasicSlvr exhibits exactly the same whistling sound as yours. Seems like it's the crankcase breather valve. Sounds like it's a complicated fix.

LOL? wat? the 2nd Vid is EXACTLY the same sound as your Vid that you posted, you don't need to be a mechanic to say that it's the same issue.

I do have a question though... The guy in the 2nd Vid (Dan Mirsky) had said in the comments that he got quoted $3400 to get it fixed. He linked that it was a 2013 S7. I'm just really curious here, why would there be any charge at all, as it would be under warranty yes?

AFAIK, you can drive on a solid CEL. If it's flashing, it's flatbed time. To be safe, I'd check with the dealer. If they tell you it's okay, they can't use it as an excuse to deny you warranty coverage down the line. If they say to not drive it, then insist that they pay the cost of a rental.
