Has anyone removed their center resonator and replaced it with an x pipe?

Did this on our S4 and for $150 the sound improvement is excellent. Anyone try this with their S6?

which mufflers did you use? how does it sound?
Spending 3 Grand on a lease for AWE or Miltek dosn't make sense to me, but my muffler shop offered a cat back for about a grand, which I could invest it...even though I will only hear it for the next 3 years.
He said the same thing..put in an X-pipe and more free flowing mufflers, I asked him if it will drone on the highway, he said there is no guarantee..nor will he change the setup for free if there is.

There's a lot of info and sound bites for the 3.0T in the S4 with resonator delete. The x pipe smoothes out some of the roughness and the sound in our S4 really is amazing for $150. At our dealership, the techs all wanted to know which aftermarket system we installed and were shocked when they looked under the car.
In the S6, I'd like to keep the valved stock system. Maybe I'll be the guinea pig if nobody else will.
Does anyone know the stock pipe diameter?

From my experience, the x-pipe may work better in a smaller engined car like the S4. I put an x-pipe in to a CLS550 I leased and absolutely hated it a month later. The sound is hard to explain.....hard to live with everyday. Like an unnatural gargaling...a streight pipe with a muting muffler.
But the engines are very different.......so what im trying to say is I hope you try it first
My guy wants $200 in Eugene, Oregon for an x-pipe
