Any aftermarket engine tune on any car will void the warranty on certain parts. It won't void the warranty on your MMI for instance, or brakes, or suspension, etc. But on engine and transmission components, it will. That said, the only situation you really need to be concerned about is that if your car was going to have a problem anyway, and it would have been covered without the tune, now it may not be. That is the risk you are taking.

However, years and years of experience by thousands of people have shown that the low level tunes themselves do not make you engine/drivetrain any more prone to failure. That said, DSG is a relatively new technology and I am not certain how increasing the clamping force will affect longevity. If it takes a transmission that would have lasted 200,000 miles and makes it so that it only lasts 160,000 miles, then who cares. On the other hand, if it now lasts only 30,000 miles, then that is a valid concern.

Here's the level of financial risk we're taking (according to my dealer representative):

"As far as cost of a random repair. Worst case (but not likely) it blows up the engine you’re in it $20,000. Turbo’s $5000. Other random major engine repairs, $8000. Transmission $8000.

Ballpark numbers, but I don’t see there being an extremely high risk. If you drive it like a rally car every day it’s a different story."
