Android and Audi MMI Navigation - Read this for the best map solution available
Hey guys,
I have been meaning to post this for a while. Everyone know's how big of a pain it is to manually type in destinations using MMI, thankfully there is a ridiculously simple way to do it from your phone if you have an Android (Android rules!).
The only requirement, which is a lame one, is that you need Audi Connect. As most of you know, if you just bought your car you get it for free for six months.
Download the "Send to Car" app from the Google Play store on your Android. Go to Google Maps and search for a destination, say for example Gillette Stadium (the motherland). Once the location page is up in Google Maps, simply tap the share button and then select Send to Car. This will open Send to Car. Make sure the email address is the same one associated with your Audi Connect (the same email address you use to log into my.audiusa.com). Then press send.
Go to your navigation in the MMI and select the Audi Connect menu. The location you just shared on your phone will be under "Online destinations".
No more manually typing addresses!
I tried to keep it simple, if all that sounded complicated believe me it's not. It takes less than 30 seconds to send a location to your car.
Enjoy and let me know if you have any questions.
Tony

BMW has a very similar thing (including full routes between destinations) except you don't need to pay an additional monthly fee Like Audi Connect to use it... not sure why Audi can't figure out how to offer the same to us outside of the obvious of getting us to shell out more money/month.
