Default RS2 Mass Airflow Sender - Photo showing screens - plus flow related info

AAN Mass Air Flow (MAF) sender on left, RS2 on right.

Back on Feb.22, 2004 "manx" posted:

"I don't show it but the RS2 is less restrictive approx 2in h20 vs. 2.9 for the stock maf, I haven't checked the stock one without the screens, but suspect that you would need to remove both to get it the the RS2's backpressure. Other then that they are basically the same, just a few hp lost trying to get the same flow out of the S4 unit, at least up to 180cfm. Anyone got numbers off up to 600cfm, from a larger flow bench. I am currently doing data aquisition on MAF voltage vs. RPM on my car to get a better idea of the map for the RS2."

More general info is available in the Autospeed negative boost article.

Link to the Autospeed articles with photos of the OE Bosch UrS4/S6 MAF

Default Interesting. Maybe Ned's onto something.

Still, it's *$425*!!!

Small in comparison to the whole project, but damn.

Thanks Jimmy. I was looking (everywhere) for just that photo comparison.

Default Link to Cody Payne's post on comparison of RS2 vs OE MAF voltages

Found during my "Search Forums" for "RS2 MAF" yesterday.

Not trying to stir things up. Just trying to point out that the RS2 MAF is nice but not necessary as part of an "RS2" upgrade.

We did NOT know that when we (three of us in the Vancouver UrS club) did the upgrade a few years ago.

Cody Payne's post on comparison of RS2 vs OE MAF voltages

Default Yes, I remember the post.

Alex pretty much told me that if I wanted to run an OEM MAF, I'd be "on my own" for support after-sale.

So, if it is to be IA, and I want their support, RS2 MAF is on the list.

Since I'm going to get an Innovate LC-1 WB OXS, I can do a side-by-side test on the same day, under the same conditions, and see what the A:F plots look like.

I dunno if you slackers are worth the effort, though.

Who am I kidding. I'm a scientist, and I love hard data.

:-P

I think I'm fairly informed now on the differences between the two MAFs - at least from a "known data" standpoint. Thanks for the info, Dave - I appreciate the collating. Once I generate some of my own, a FAQ entry is indicated, IMO.
