paging marvgomez, please post the blower fan trick.
#3
I'm here....
It's basically removing the plastic firewall shrowd, then the temp sensor on the blower motor which is held in with two small screws on the drivers side of the blower. My ahem, "instructor" then grabbed the wd40, bent a 45 deg angle into the straw applicator nozzle and proceded to spray directly down onto what I would guess is the brush area of the motor. He had also drilled out a small hole (just big enough to fit the applicator straw) into the plastic that I think houses the fan bearing. Again a good douche of wd40 was applied.
I didn't want to post until 1) I could get a mirror into the temp sensor housing to see what I'm spraying 2) see if etka shows the detail of the blower motor to see where the drill hole is going and 3) take some pictures cause I knew the verbage would sound crazy.... 8-)
I got an email from my instructor after his arrival home from Sfest. He reported no squeel. He claimed it had been about a year between procedures. He also suggested Kroil would be better than WD40.
Another issue I would worry about is wether or not all that oil flying around the fan would have the same effect as a leaky heater core. Permanent FOGGY windows !
The word "trick" was an inside joke as my instructor said the 45deg bend was "critical" in the procedure, just as the bend caught the edge of the blower motor and the little plastic straw dissapeared into the bowels of the blower motor... most likely reappearing as a well lubricated DART at some point in the future. 8-)
I hope to take some pictures by the weekend and will post. My fan is driving me NUTS !
