S4 Fuel Filter cut open for inspection, car feels much stronger after change
Part # 8E0-201-511-J $ 54.00 US from the dealer
I don't understand Audi not having a service interval on this filter?
They could have just put it in for 55k outside of the warranty if it was an "included maintenance" thing?
I just did mine at 72k and the car feels much stronger.
It's just a normal paper filter inside, nothing that would last a lifetime that's for sure.

care to elaborate?
I tend to stick to very high volume major brand gas stations.
I have really never been able to detect any differences between say Sunoco, Mobil or Shell.
At least since they did away with Sunoco260 in my area.
I always figured as long as it's fresh, I'll burn it up.
Am I missing something other than a personal preference?

No - the fact that you are using a major brand - I would not have expected such a dirty filter
In the old days (I'm a old mfer) running cars with out the feed back loops like they have now - you could tell the difference in the brands and octane (I loved Sunoco 260 and used it when I could find it) I had a preference for Texaco and Chevron when I could not get 260. When I was using carb equipped cars and on my mechanical fuel injected 2002tii I could tell sight differences.
