Gas mileage - miles per tank-full
I know a lot of you have complained about the poor gas mileage, but I was wondering about how far you are traveling between tank-fulls? Assuming that you fill up at about 1/4 or slightly less tank.

hmmm depends....
On the weekends I go and drive through VF Park and I avarage 10mpg in there. Doing that once I am done in the park I normally go fill up for the rest of thr week and then before i go through that again i fill up. Then again I only have to drive 5 miles to get to work. Two full tanks a week right now.

I think it's 2.4. So 0 miles on the computer should be 15 gallons, just about.
Anyone else's computer overestimate gas consumption?
Mine's off about 1mpg-1.5mpg and took it to the service dept and they said they couldn't "find a problem" and there's basically nothing they could do.
Then i mentioned what somebody on here told me to do with the VAG tool to adjust it, and then he went off telling me that when you mess with the VAG you may lose other features/codes.
Ie...the automatic roll up of the windows with the door lock...it makes it so the windows don't go back down if there is an obstruction, (your arm) in the way. Depending on where you live, this may be a better feature than having a window that rolls back down if pressure is applied to it.

BS...
This must be something they pass along to each other as they all give the same story.
I haven't looked into the programming for the S4 but on the A6 they were able to adjust the mileage calculation with no adverse effect to anything else. My windows were programmed to go up or down using the key fob and the pinch protection still worked. I personally tested it myself.
Various people on the A6 forum reported the same conversation with their dealer so it must be an Audi service myth at best. More likely it's an unwritten policy.

Maybe just uninformed...
Although they could test the window pinch protection just like I did. Maybe you could do it right in front of them after they recode it. Just hold a pencil against the top of the window frame and roll the window up. If it doesn't work, they're right and I'm wrong.
There was a Tech Bulletin at one point that instructed the service department to perform one recode for free. IT even had a warranty code so that the dealer could be reimbursed for it. I don't know if it has been rescinded or not.
