Paging Greg01 - Phatnoise install in S4 with factory XM
#11
I believe that his method actually works really well.
Since I already had a CDC cable for the phatbox, I figured out the trick they are using, and modded my XM receiver and CDC cable.
Works perfectly, and who knows why audi doesn't f'n sell the cable themselves, it's not that hard of a change.

Can you share exactly what's working for you?...
Where did you installed your phatnoise?
Do you still have SAT radio working?
Did you do the work yourself?
I'm starving for details of a system that is actually "working well"...
Txs,.

Re: Can you share exactly what's working for you?...
My phatbox is velcro'd to the floor in the back of the Avant. I have the LE version of the phatbox, and the 'mounting kit' that audi sells is for the VW/Audi phatbox (and all it does is mount it to the side of the trunk).
Yes, Sat works great, as does the phatbox. Before I did the mod, I had the two connected together via a passive mixer, and this is *way* better.
I started with an Audi CDC changer cable. I did the mods to it and the XM myself.
Really, if you want both, find UltraSport_Sal's post (may be listed under Sat/iPod integration too), and order his cable. It works, and it's a heckuva lot easier and the same price as going with the Audi CDC cable. And using his cable means you dont have to cut apart any cables, or solder anything to the inside of your XM radio, it's simple plug and play.
With this hooked up, I can use XM, the in-dash cd changer, and Phatbox, all no problems.

Hey stealth, your email isn't listed. Can you shoot me an email?
I'm a bit lost about what's going on below with Charlie/Ultrasport/Miwa's recommendations about an easier solution.
Gracias.

Our cable is designed if you plan on keeping Sat radio. But if you are not planing on keeping sat radio you will still need the CDC cable in order to install Phat noise.
Email me if you have any further questions.
Thanks,
Ryan

So do you need CDC cable + Ultrasport cable ...
In other words:
Do you run the CDC cable out to the trunk and then connect Ultrasport-Sal's cable to the CDC cable or do you actually "replace" the CDC Cable with Ultrasport?
I'm lost.
