Default Ignorance is bliss. Here's a video

to prove you wrong. BUT WAIT, R&T & Mototrend also tested the C55 slower than the M36MT. Even the trap speeds were lower than the M3's.

C55 vs M3: 5000ft elevation

Default LMAO, I regularly run the E46 M3s and C32AMGs. That video means nothing...

...driver error, traction issues, there can be lots of other things involved.

I'm talking about all else being equal, what's faster? Both cars go up in smoke from a standstill with the AMG having more of a problem than the M3, but what about from a roll? Assuming the C55 is faster than a C32, then the E46 M3 will lose.

On the street, you cannot get reproduceable results as the magazines because the magazine numbers are best runs while on the street, most of the time RWD cars go up in smoke.

Oh, why do I even bother. I hope the C55s come out soon and you run into one. :-P

Default That was we driving

the M3. We did it 4 times. Then we went on the highway. I pulled on the C55 every time. I ran 13.0 @ 108 at a sea-level track.

My trap speed was 2mph more than the C55's & my car is stock. Do yourself a favour. Have a look at Motortrend & Road & Track. They have both tested the C55. Come back & tell me if the M3 6MT was quicker than the C55 & who's trap speed was quicker.

And don't want to talk about S4's. At our sea-level track the best one ran 14.1 @ 100mph. And it wasn't even stock.

Default The video is poor so I can't tell what's going on but yes, in an auto, especially AMG auto...

...it's very easy to bog or go up in smoke.

Regardless, good job for you at 5,000ft. wherever you raced.

Default Congrats *you* beat a C55. Some clarification...

...I said the B6 S4 has *no* chance. No chance against a C32AMG and E46 M3. So I'm not disagreeing with you there.

...I'm assuming based on MB's powers that the C55 is faster than the C32 because from a roll, at normal elevations, the C32 edges out the M3. I've seen this done numerous times.

...what time *you* got, is good, it's you're "best" and is a one time thing. Maybe you're a good driver and the C55 was not, going up in smoke. The C32/C55 is notorious for going up in smoke from a standstill.

...but if you claim to "pull" on the C55 from a roll, I say something is wrong with that C55 or there are other factors. You should not be able to pull on a C55, assuming it's faster than a C32 (from a roll).

...was that a production car or a pre-production? Was the C55 broken-in or (probably) very new.

...finally, I assume you are referring to a B6 S4. I drive a B5 S4 not B6. Wanna run for fun? :-) We can do up to 13.8 stock, Stage 2+ up to: 12.6 and Stage 3: 11.5 going on 11.2s.

Default I've raced 4 C55's

with the same result. But don't take my word for it. Will have more vid's soon at our sea-level track.

B5 S4 is the bomb. ALthough my car is stock & I know I would lose to a well modified one, I am willing to try anything out. Problem is that I am on the other side of the world to you guys.

Default Well, if you have raced 4 of them with the same result, then your M3 is faster than a C55.:-) How...

...have you done against C32s?

I see now, you drive a Euro-spec M3. A bit more potent than the U.S. spec: +10bhp/+7fpt peak.

Default No problem...

BTW, I didn't mean for my post to come off as arrogant as it probably appears. You can likely sense a difference between drilled/undrilled in terms of feel. This has mostly to do with initial pad bite but has little to do with the ultimate braking power the car has. Slotting a rotor will help pad bite, clean the braking surfaces and not stress crack compared to drilled.
