Had radio de-Bose'd, dunno if I like the results yet...
As mentioned in other posts, it's a lot louder than the Bose settings, louder bass (good), not as clear though (not so good). With the same hidden EQ settings as I had w/Bose (88698869), and the bass tweaked at anything more than one notch over sounded really boomy, and when tweaked higher the bass was really distorted. This was all at the first volume notch too. With the old settings on Bose, it sounded fine (a bit of **** fiddling for different music though). Gonna tweak around with it some more and try to see if I can get it to how I'd like it since the louder/stronger sound is nice, but if I can't get it clearer, back to Bose I go.

clarity can sometimes be confused with brightness. you could always move the eq
settings down 3 notches first then try to get what you like. the volume **** is the real way to make it louder. start from a flat setting then work your way from there. compare it to your home system if you have to.

Don't use same settings for front and back...
Set each pair separately with the other pair faded off. I use 74384444. Now each pair alone sounds right, and together they also sound right. (Bass setting has to be a bit turned down when playing both pairs together, because bass adds in a way that mid and treble do not. For example, the rear pair sounds good alone at 6444, but with fronts on and rears down several clicks, I need 4444 to avoid too much bass.)
Also, getting rid of Bose functions in the radio doesn't seem likely to help... the reason they are there is to compensate for the really, really cheap amps and speakers. At the very least, your EQ settings will be wrong. Also, the loudness compensation and GALA are probably wrong.
The best thing to do is rip out the Bose speakers and amps, and then turn off the Bose and install new amps and speakers, to the tune of at least $2000.
Short of that, leave Bose on. That is what I do, and I'm very very picky. I'm waiting to be able to spend $5000 to do that, subwoofer and all.
