which required a downpipe chip that ignored the second O2 sensor signal. Only 2 systems were made that way.
We discovered that if the upper ziptie that held the secondary O2 sensors to the trans was cut (a real PITA), there was enough slack in the wires to allow us to move the second O2 sensors to behind the main cat. Once the second O2 sensors are moved to behind (after) the main cat, there is no need for a special chip that ignores the second O2 sensors to keep the check engine light off. We have found that the 100 cell cats used in some downpipe systems will throw cat efficiency codes, even if the second O2 sensor is placed after them. We have had absolutely no issues like this and the 400 cell cats that we use. We do have a special downpipe chip that GIAC is working on for us that will improve performance by increasing high rpm boost a touch, but this has nothing to do with the placement of the O2 sensors and keeping the check engine light off. I hope that clarifies all the questions. Todd Sager |
