Default Hockey Puck Mod. So I had enough with all the driveline movement I experience on a daily basis. I

already have the RS4 motor mounts, the snub mount, a DTS and a newly replaced rear differential mount. I noticed that when I had just replaced the rear mount, the car felt very "solid" for about 1.5 months, then after that it was back to the old way it used to feel.

I've seen the posts where some people had filled the bushing with caulk or rubber sealant, but I didn't want something that permanent in case I didn't like it. So after looking at the mount for a few minutes (I still had the old one sitting on my workbench), I decided to try something a little more "reversible".

So I went to the sports shop and bought a hockey puck ($1) and measured how thick it would need to be to minimize the play of the mount while still allowing for some flexibility. I came up with a measurement of 11 mm. So using a "jig" (made from 2 2x4's and a couple of clamps) I sliced the puck down to size on my table saw. I then measured how big the opening would need to be to slip around the bushing and cut a slot in the puck accordingly.

I then slid the puck into the mount and used a screw driver to push down the little "tabs" on the bushing so that I could really shove the puck in there

Once it was in place

I remounted the part. I only drove it around my neighborhood, but I noticed a real improvement. There still is some play (because I didn't make it as thick as I could), but so far so good.

If I decide I don't like it, it's fairly easy to slide the puck out and go back to stock.

Default Nice! Mine really needs to be replaced. Waiting for the one PureMS has coming out...

Maybe I should give this a try.

Default Unless the bushing is torn, I don't think a new one will do anything. Mine had a lot of play in it

compared to the new one, but then the new one had the same amount of play in it in less than 2 months.

This took me less than an hour to do and cost me $1.00.

Let's see how long it lasts.

Default PureMS told me that if the diff mount is shot to replace it. The one pureMS is coming out with is

just an insert, it's not a completely new diff mount.

Default Not sure what that means. Everything is intact, just lots of movement on/off throttle.

I thought the PureMS mount replaces the stock bushing.
