it's not as much that it is bad it's that there other products that are so much better.
![]() There are ingredients in it that are more suited to greasing a horses ass then detailing a car... where it really falls on it's face is that it never dries..you are left with a greasy film on everything, which does nothing for appearance yet is excellent at attracting and holding dust. It streaks if you get it on anything that is hard plastic such as the instrument cluster or radio display. I think it is a horror for rubber as well. that which doesn't sling off onto your paint will build-up around the lettering of your tires and eventually turn the rubber brown. I have only one use for any of the armor all products...I use the tire foam when detailing things like the RS4 mesh, the IC shrouds and the engine trim pieces. Remove them from the car (hood grill, lower grills and engine covers) and spray them with the tire foam. Don't do this on your driveway..it will stain forever (that said..imagine what it is doing to your dash?). Once it has dried, hose it off. Give it a wipe with a lint free cloth and enjoy. ![]() For the interior I use Harley Poly Guard, but it has been increasingly hard to find..I have a few gallon bottles of it so I am good. You can use 303 Aerospace Protectant the same I am decribing..I use a closed cell foam pad (anything else would just absorb the product and be way too wasteful) and cover absolutely everything that is plastic.. The entire dash, the center console including all the HVAC and even the radio display, the knee bolsters, the steering wheel, the arm rest, door panels, lower seat trim, door sills, B pillar, back of the mirror... Let it dry. If you like a real shine, you are done. I like a matte finish so I give it a quick wipe to knock down the shine. This is good for a month or two. While you are in the interrior, You can use Plexus on the instrument display as well as the plastic coated wood trim if you have it. It is also great for the head and tail light housings..unless you use x-pel as I do..then skip. For tires...ah, the tires...a real idiosyncracy of mine.. I use One Grand Exterior Rubber and Vinyl Protectant. It gives you a deep matte black finish...looks like brand new rubber. Lasts about two weeks, won't sling off and if you want a little more shine just give it a second coat. The only other product that even comes close to the "unfinished" finish of ERV is the new Mothers product and Griots Vinyl & Rubber Dressing. If you want more info, visit the Detailing Forum or click the last link in my sig and go to Detailing!!! Enjoy... And btw...each of these products add 5 hp... ![]() ![]() My Wheel Repair NASA Style ** The Unofficial AW Buyer / Seller Feedback Thread ** The nOOb FAQ ~ LI-S4 Style |
