It would truly be temporary - 2 years or so - so I don't care how it looks in 5 or 6 years. Even so, I still do doubletakes when a Gen3 RX-7 passes (loved that car, glad I never owned one though) and last-gen Supra (another cult car). I think the G35 will look okay in a few years, but you're right about it not having classic good looks like the B5 ... which will still look good in another 20 years, like an E30 M3 does today.
Truth be told, I think I'd rather drive an E46 M3 than a G35 Coupe, but I don't want to buy an ///M at what is essentially then end of its run (as an E46). And I'd love a C55 AMG, but don't think I could stand living with a slushbox day in and day out.
