the hood is closed? I guess this question should be directed towards Jon. I'm just curious since the hood has some curvature to it but it's hard to tell if the rubber seals around the airbox follow that same curvature. If not, hot air is getting in. That *might* explain the difference in your airflow when you changed the cone position.

I know that the felt lining under my hood is rather uneven too (with lots of give to it). I guess an easy way to check would be to put some kind of a coloring on the seals (chalk?), close the hood, then see if it contacts the hood all the way.

Or, maybe this has already been answered :)
