The shroud seals incredibily well at the underside of the hood, and completey encloses the passenger side headlight. It uses the stock air inlet in the grill, and also draws air from around the headlight.
I cut the weather stripping off the trailing edge of the front support so there is an opening between the support and the bottom of the hood...air can alos enter between the hood and headlight where before it was sealed out.
The only reason i can see to have a hole in the bottom of the shroud is for water drainage, but there has been no reason to do so in the time I have it installed...the hole is where the MAF/intake tube comes through..
