Door lock problem - interior buttons and keyfob don't do anything.
I can only manually lock/unlock my doors now. I got in to drive away, and after 10 mph, the doors all locked automatically as usual, only I thought I heard some mechanical grinding sound coming from the trunk (I had the back seats down). I didn't pay any attention to it, but when I got to my destination and turned off the car and removed the key, the doors didn't unlock. Pushing the unlock button on either front door didn't do anything, either. I had to manually (two pulls of the release handle) unlock all of the doors. I tried the keyfob buttons, and they didn't do anything, either. I can manually push the door pins down to lock, and I can use the key to lock/unlock.
Any thoughts? Bad door lock motor? If so, anyone have a part number? I STFA'd "door lock motor" and came up empty - didn't find any discussion of a similar problem. Thanks.

locks are pneumatic no? check with VAG for a code. i've had the dreaded lock negative deviation.:-)
do the locks still lock after that incident after 10MPH?
if so then it wouldn't be that.
could have popped a line if it was laboring trying to get the trunk lock to go?

Vacuum pump is probably toast...
Back right corner of your trunk (pull back the liner). Odds are you'll see a code in the central locks module if you vag it. Something about run time exceeded.

S4, A4 1998+ with Concert/Symphony radio, anti-theft system and keyless entry
Standard Coding: 16140
Add the following options to your coding number:
+64 Windows up, sunroof close, and windows down with remote.
-04 One touch unlock of all 4 doors and trunk
-1024 Remove horn honk when arming
+32 Auto lock/unlock of doors (Doors lock at 15 mph and unlock when key is removed)
So, if you want to have a 2001 S4 with Concert/Symphony radio and anti-theft system and keyless entry, and you want to add window control with the remote along with auto-lock and one touch unlock all 4 doors and trunk, then:
add 16140+64+32-04= 16232

Vacume Pump, I had the same problem 3mths ago
and if you couldnt fix it in time before your next fill up, you need to manually remove the gas lid lock.
It is located in trunk, right side behind the grey panel, just pull the whole unit towards the back of the car then the gas lid will be unlocked.
