Default Add me to the list of Spec 2 clutch failures.

Took it down to my tech yesterday, had him drive the car and tell me what he thought was wrong (I suspected clutch issues). The car doesn't go into reverse without grinding, my tech mentioned something about the input shaft not disengaging. Also, the engagement point is practically right on the floor now, it didn't start out there when my clutch was installed either. I'm emailing Spec right now, but what other options do we have for clutches? Those of us with high HP that want to go even higher are left with no reliable way of putting hte power to the ground. :/

Default Oh, and it chatters in first gear, I thought this was supposed to be a chatter free clutch.

It's not like a light chattering either, it's pretty heavy.

Oh, and now that I remember, it also slipped once on hard acceleration a few weeks ago. WTF?

Default what exactly was the failure?

I have issues with my clutch and I'm curious to know if the problem is with the disc or the pressure placete and what specifically is the issue.

BTW, your car is awesome....I wish I wasn't getting into a house or I'd be all over it.

Default Not sure yet, as soon as I figure out what to replace it with it's coming out

and we'll be able to see what's wrong with it.

Thanks for the compliment on my car.. I'm not even so sure I'm selling it anymore. It's been sitting in the garage lately and I've been thinking that I want to move on to another project but then yesterday I took it out for a drive. Hehe, reminded why I love this thing so much.

It has been rumored that the throwout bearing shipped was incorrect, suggested to use stock one.

Default who said this...SPEC or a shop or customer?

just curious what people's issues are? Mine hold the power, it just doesn't engage right. It seems to slip more than it should until it's fully engaged and make s squealing sound similar to tires chirping. Sometimes when on a hill first and reverse seem to engage a lower clutch positioon than normal, but after letting the clutch out completely, the next shifts feels normal. The issues are a bit intermidtent unfortunately. The clutch was fine for the first couple thousand miles. I've never had chatter issues with my setup. Although now I engage my clutch at lower than 1000 RPMs to avoiding the squealing and there is a bit of roughness in doing it that way with the LWFW. I'm trying to decide on waht to get next time around....it might be that a sprung clutch might be all I need. I have the unsprung disc right now. I'll be tempted to use the stock throwout bearing too now that I hear about that issue.

Default sorry to hear...there really arent any other options though. My Rs4 clutch would slip even with a..

chip and exhaust, so thats not even an option.

My stage 3 grinds ever so slightly if i dont get the clutch pressure right trying to go into reverse, but its not that much of a problem...

we're getting a list together on the thread above of all the spec failures, then I will compile all the names and give it to my lawyer friend to serve it to SPEC.
