Default Who would be interested in a group buy for S6 Avus wheels?

Looks like another group buy for the S6 Avus wheel's is coming together. Leigh, who put together the previous GP, is putting a list together.

The current timeframe is to begin making concrete arrangements (i.e. prepayments will be necessary) during Q1 of 2001, for delivery thereafter.

Right now, we just need a list of people who are interested, with a number of desired wheels. The cost will range between $300-$400 per wheel, compared to the $600+ if you go through the dealer. The specs are below.

During the last group purchase there were 31 Audi owners who participated.

Here are the specs:
AVUS 17x8 Wheels:

1. ET35, 17"x8" is the factory spec wheel for the 2000 S6 V8. Wheels are not normally available in USA. (Note: the S4tt only comes with measly 7-1/2" x 17" wheels, go figure)

2. Weight of 1 wheel = 26 lbs.
weight of 1 wheel + a 245/40-17 Bridgestone S02 Pole Position = 52 lbs.

3. Clearance for the Mov'It Big Red 993tt calipers/rotors is superb. 2 fingers clearance to the inside of the spokes and 1 finger clearance to
inside diameter of wheel. There is no better wheel for clearance.

4. Made by SpeedLine for Audi. Made in Italy. Genuine AVUS style, which has the dimpled and flared spoke ends x 6 spokes.

3. Metallic silver finish, Clearcoat is deep, beautiful

6. Plastic center cap is very nice. Same as the S4tt's center caps.

7. Minimum tire is 245/40-17. 255's are OK for at least some tires and are the OEM spec tire size. Do not use 235 or smaller!

If interested, shoot me an email to ertey@yahoo.com (hit my name at the top of the post). This is only a preliminary list, gauging interested from the AudiWorld community. No guarantees that it will go through.

At this time there is no set closing date. A distribution list will be created, so as information becomes available it will be easy to send it out. Also, when things begin to firm up in Q1/2001, additional postings will be made.

Cheers,
Ernesto

Go to "links" and then "entheusiast sites" then to "urS4.com".
Under "specifications" (I think) there is a full photo/tech section devoted to wheels for the Audi "S" cars, with a detailed photo/tech lay-out by Leigh Anderson.

These are the 2000MY S6 17" x 8" AVUS wheels.
