Default Michelin 255/40/17 on stock S4 rims on rear only, interference?

I want to cure some of the curb rim rash and have a chance to buy two Michelin Pilot Sport for a good price. I already have two 245/40/17 that I know fit with no interference either on the front or back. The stock 225/45/17 were listed as 25.1 DIA. & 8.8 wide on TireRack WebPage and the 255's as 25.1 DIA. & 10.1 wide. Thinking this would be about an 1 3/8" wider than stock adding 11/16" to the inside wheel well section and 11/16" past the fender lip, while the total diameter would remain the same. Does this seem correct? How about in real life? Anyone with past experience good or bad stories

Aren't 255s a bit wide for a 7.5" rim?

Default Any Idea's Where?

Is it at a spot or two or the complete inner liner it does get a little tight at the inner rear section as it starts to sweep forward didn't know if someone had tried and if hit at a place could it be cut away? The rim wide at 7.5 is something that skipped my mine think they recommend 8.0 to 9.5. I be putting this on hold unless there is a positive comment or two.
Thanks Guys

Default "these are S6 wheels" - yes they're 8 or 8.5 I don't remember which.

I ran 245/45/16 S03s on A6 16x7s w/out tire+wheel fitment issues, FWIW.
