and those that came from Strat had nothing to do with Hoppen. So, both Hoppen and Strat got their MTM chips from MTM and did nothing further to modify them.

I can easily believe that MTM engineers were in the US, and probably stayed at Hoppen's place since it was the main MTM US distributor. But any work done was just for the purpose of the chips that MTM sold; to everyone, Strat, Hoppen, etc.
