Since boost seems to be the reigning sales parameter, programmers push that without properly optimizing the many other maps that are in the control path and their mutual relationships. One can get away with that so long as the boost increase is moderate. But, major increases limited to just changing the maps, requires very complex, multi-variable trial and error testing to get it right. That's why more and more narrow range (octane, street, race, etc.) chip versions are showing up, and that's how customers become alpha and beta testers. Anything else would be unaffordable.
