Two things: first, the bumper comes off rather easily if you just read one of the previous posts regarding realigning it. That takes the biggest hassle out of it. No need to yanking it out. Second, the efficiency of electric motors is not better than a mechanical clutch. The clutch driven fan might cost you 1 KW at max. To run an electric motor with 1 KW you abviously need 1 KW of electric energy or more (duh!), but generating 1 KW takes about 3 KW. So you do not gain a whole lot, you just postpone the need for generating the charge in your battery.
