Write-up from weekend before last at Willow Springs (and car prep).
The weekend before last left me in a daze. Due to a tight travel schedule from coast to coast, I found myself preparing the car on three hours of sleep for a weekend racing school and NASA Time Trial event.
So arriving in Bakersfield, CA (I barely made my midnight connection at the wonderful Las Vegas McCarron airport) I had one day to get everything in order for the weekend and with four measly hours of sleep in my arsinal I didn't have what one could call a "good foundation for success". I started my Friday looking for an alignment shop in Bakersfield who could do an alignment to "custom" specifications. No dice. So I got out the 'ole toe plates and the caster/camber gauge and made a couple minor adjustments - squared the rear toe and made some front camber changes. My dad helped me with the tape measures on the toe adjustments… dads rock!
So after dropping off wheels/tires to be mounted my dad took me to lunch with a buddy of his. After an hour and a half lunch break (older guys sure do take their food-time seriously!) I picked up the wheels/tires and returned to the shop for further car prep.

The next step was to replace front pads and rotors. The old PFC01's got cooked at Sears Point during the previous event and little did I know I had a spare set in the trailer the whole time… would have been nice to know since we were bleeding brakes after every session at Sears. It would have also been nice to know about the spare set of pads because I dropped boku bucks with the nice guys at Stoptech on another set and had poor EF juggling a busy work schedule to pick up the pads which I had sent to AMS in my infinite wisdom - damn.

After getting the prep work done, the actual weekend was a bust. I spent my time doing exercises all weekend, while not getting times, then only had a ten minute shot in the Time Trial Shootout at the end of each day. The result was a 1:31.4 during Saturday's shootout which was good enough for second. First place went to Russ Warr in a very fast STI. Russ also ran his best time in the shootout, a 1:30.3 - GULP!
Sunday was more of the same, but this time the nice folks at the NASA Timing and Scoring office turned on the AMB strips during our exercises so myself and one other Time Trialer doing the school were able to get times throughout the day. My best time of 1:31.1 still came in the shootout at the end of the day which resulted in another second place finish. While I beat my personal best around Willow, again, the lightning fast Russ in his STI handed me my *** by rocketing around Willow Springs to the tune of 1:29.8 - MARTHA FOCKER!
Super fast STI...

I've gotta give a shout out to Mr. Eric Fletcher cause he totally saved my bacon once again the other weekend. While I was stuck in class Eric made sure the car was fueled and ready to go for the on track sessions. Not to mention riding my *** about putting together a good lap during the shootout
Eric also took some amazing photos of a bunch of cars on the track, mine included. EF is the man!

My buddy, Sander's E46 M3. He goes by "FlyingDutchman" on the bimmer forums and is a VERY good shoe. He was turning 1:36's on small Dunlop Super Sports with a passenger.

I'll put up a few more photos in a little while.
So after handing my lap record over to Russ I had to fly… I had a flight to catch in LAX and had to drop off the car/trailer at AMS in Carson. Dad to the rescue - my dad swapped me cars and he took my rig down to AMS to ensure that I would make my plane back to NY. Thanks dad!
I'll post more pics that I took; I owe some folks pics of the inside all painted. Also, I wanted to post a very short write-up of some work I did on the car this past weekend at AMS.
So what have I missed on Audi World since I've been super busy?
