who do you guys recommend to rebuild an ABS control module?

modulemasters does it
but if i were you i'd just get a new unit. most of the time they can't even fix it and it's downtime.
the dealer sells the control module seperate from the pump now so it's not all that expensive.
the hand on the bottom right of that pic is freaking me out... looks just like mine :-0

"most of the time they can't even fix it and it's downtime" - Disagree!
Mine was fixed, and it seems the majority of people that have posted here have had success.
And the car's still drivable while the module is out, so there's no downtime.

it's not recommended to drive the car with it out
you leave the pump exposed, plus even on their site it says an increase in the chance of rear wheels skidding. if you want to cover it up with something and duct tape it... i guess go for it.
also, to drive the car your gonna have to reconnect everything you did to get at it - windsheild washer tank, wheel liner, etc. and then do it all over again when the controller comes back. i think i recall someone pulling it w/o removing the w/w tank, if you can pull that off power to you!
don't get me wrong, it's possible but all the extra hassle isn't worth it to me. not having to deal w/ shipping and having the part in your hand prior to install is just so EASY! to add, when i spoke with them over the phone the lady striaght up told me 70% of the units were not even repairable. perhaps no the best business sense, but i respect her honesty.
that's why i recommend the new unit. the only plus side of the rebuilt one is the warranty, which is nice; i'm replaced mine twice :-(

no way jose, easy rebuild. i got mine done for $100 vs $500+ for a new unit
i got mine through some shop on ebay. mine ended up not being fixable but they just sent me a different unit that worked. im sure they are still making money on it.
also its fine to drive with the abs module out of the car, just put a plastic bag over it and wrap it up. you can just leave your windshield fluid tank out in the meantime as well.
i dont see how it increases the chance of skidding, since the abs module is shot anyway so its as if its not hooked up.

i had no issues with modulemasters not sure where your "most of the time" came from
from the sound of it you PERSONALLY had one bad experience so everyone else does. FWIW if you act on it early it doesnt generally burn the board out entirely, the longer you let the light blink the worse it gets and the less of a chance there is to fix the module.

actually, i have no experience with them... i didn't send in my unit
after module masters told me directly that the majority of units from the audi's were not repairable. looks like you guys are having success with it and perhaps if my controller takes another dump (sure hope not), i'll reconsider them.
