Default Tip is refusing to engage reverse I vag'd tcu no dtc's but trans speed sensor is going...

crazy up and down with the engine off and the car is saying 4th gear is engaged while it is in park. Someone said it was the neutral safety switch but I do not know how to check that but it is showing for each "selected gear" a different number for the multifunction switch position related to each each gear. I tryed to move it a minute ago and it highlighted all the gears and wouldnt move. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All gears highlighted means the tranny is in limp mode.

I would start looking at the multifunction switch (MFS) first. Those can get water in them and corrode and create all type of problems. Cleaning the MFS and putting in some di-electric grease would be the place I would start.

Default That was the plan until I realized my downpipe is in the way of the top bolt for the heat shield but

what is up with the transmission speed sensor having a signal that is going up and down with the engine off?

I would inspect an implausible signal on G38, if there were odd readings. At a minimum start with that sensor; which would mean checking fluid levels first.

Have you done anything to the tranny recently; changed fluid or anything?

Default They are but it jumps around through the gears and cant decide where it...

wants to be almost like the rpm signal to the tranny is too high and the car automatically shifts into a higher gear.

Did you check the fluid level warm as you're supposed to?
