Tial R650 Turbo Kit, 2.7tt - experience ne 1??
i was just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Tial R650 Turbo Kit, 2.7tt. Would it be a better idea then going with the K04's? Are they high quality? What levels of power outputs are achieved. Thanks... Here is the site : http://www.034motorsport.com/product...ducts_id=18518

You can get far more power from this kit than you will get with the OEM RS4 upgrade. Although they say this kit does not need any replacement parts over stock that depends on how much power you are going to want. For 650hp you will need things like fuel pump, bigger brake kit, probably some work on the block, a new clutch and so on..
To my knowledge this kit is without fueling and chip tuning to take advantage of the larger turbos. The nice thing about the RS4 upgrade is that you can get everything you need for under 6 grand and it has been widely implemented and tested.
While I understand the urge to upgrade to massive turbos you have to consider what you are planning on doing with the car and whether you really need the power. A full fledged stage 3 S4 will contend competently with 100,000 dollar porsches, so do you really need to build a 650hp super car?
To get the 650hp I would plan on spending another 10 g's on top of the turbo kit.

When you say full Stage 3 for under 6 grand, I assume that is parts-only? What is the typical labor cost for these kits, for the NON do-it-yourself-ers? There are a variety of K04 kits - AWE, APR, etc - but most are over the 6K mark for parts only - do the shops negotiate parts/labor costs very much or do you pay the list price? For the original poster - which kit are you going with and are you able to finagle a good deal? Thanks.

There's not as much written about tials as K04s, but there is enough in the archives to get you going.
Pretty much think of it this way. If you're not in the market to drop 15K+ on parts, installation and tuning, K04s are for you.
My priority was to have approximately K04 race gas power on 91oct. (Too many fast BMWs being produced today for basic STG3 to be as dominant as I'd like.) I went with Tials as a route to achieve that. Of course K04s + tuning + WMI could have gone a long way to also achieving that goal.

If you don't plan to DIY then expect to pay several grand for labor. The turbo swap is a hefty job and most people/shops will pull the engine to do it. I have not personally gone stage 3 though I am in the process of collecting all the parts - I asked the members here to share some of their experiences - bottom line: expect to invest in 40 hours of labor, either at the mechanic's rate or using your own time.

Is any tuner really close to finishing their turbo kit? And I don't mean like APR's "next month"....
