Default To those who have painted their stock calipers, which clear coat did you use?

For instance: high heat engine clear coat, regular clear coat or the wheel paint clear coat? I am going to be doing my calipers maybe this weekend and wanted to know what you guys have used and if it faded the paint by any chance? I heard that once they applied the engine enamel clear coat it changed the caliper paint color.

Default I am doing mine this week also. Second time. Make sure you clean them really good.

If you don't they will peal like mine did.

You can purchase audi emblem brake caliper stickers off ebay in different colors if thats something that you might do.

Default With paint, its all in the prep. Make sure they are as clean as you can get them.Hit them with an

aggresive tool like a wire wheel on a drill, then wire brushes and a really good wet scuff (red pads) with brake cleaner.

Default FYI, on the wheel paint clear coat, mine was clear, but it has silver flakes in it, which

meant when you sprayed it, it looked silver. Probably a bad idea on black/red paint, as it looked horrible on my black paint.

Use G2 paint. Don't use clear coat.

Default I used clear over G2 with great results. No discoloration after 1.5 years. Its all about the prep

Nelson, if you need a hand let me know. I have some useful tools for this job. Actually, I still need to do my fronts if you want to do it together
