Default Tech help for n00b please (crappy cell pic warning)
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/16336/s4_hose_tear.jpg"></center><p>I'm assuming this tear is the cause of the loss of power i've been perceiving in the last weeks? Engine sounds funny under acceleration around 2k revs and sometimes i hear a kind of "rubber rubbing squeak sound" (hard to describe, think of a tire rubbing against something). I've been getting paranoid the last few days and am almost convinced i hear the dentist drill of the turbo lady. could all this be caused by the crack in the pic? TIA.

certainly is. throttle body boot. replace, and you should be good to go!

No, massive holes in your intake are normal. I can't possibly imagine one causing problems.
