Go with allroad 2.7t we have a 01 wit 80k no major problems but no mods also.
Just now doing the timing belt probably doing Chip this week. Fun car either way just big turbo lag. I drive the S4 and WE drive the allroad 3rd kid on the way.

eleventy: my two kids in the back of the S4 is snug. infant seats in particular take up
a lot of room that the booster seats dont. Have to move the passenger seat all the way forward to clear. Thank god my wife is 4"11'

He, he, I must be getting old. Although, I don't own one, the large interior volume is becoming
very appealing. Being 6'5" and driving a B5 S4 fora few years, can do that to a fellow. :-)

I just bought an 2001.5 avant w/ 6 speed w/ 32k miles in mint condition and we just had twin girls
infant car seats make it a tight fit for anyone of average size, im 5'9" and like the seat leaned back, we swapped the baby seats over to the Avalanche and it is much better, I would go with an allroad

Re: S4 rear seat room is awful period...... one kid that I have
in my s4 sedan is tuff at times she is all most 2 and with here stuff in the trunk it is ok, i wish at times i could afoord a allroad for a second car it would be perfect for VT trips and kid's stuff too, Good luck
