Default Replacing the automatic shifter

Hi guys
I have searched google and on here as well, but havent found any write up on how to do this.

Basically, my automatic shifter in my 2000 audi s4 does not switch to tiptronic mode. Nothing happens when I shift it to tiptronic. The D stays lit instead of the + and - and on the dash, the D also stays lit without changing to 1.

My buddy has same year S4 as me and his changes, so I am thinking my shifter is broke. I got a new one for a good price and wanted to replace it.

How hard is it to do and has anyone seen a write up on it? I want to do it myself, but If its not possible then I dunno if i will have it installed.

If anyone has any suggestions, please post them. Thanks
