Repair or replace

Repair or replace
I just got the final estimate on my little fender-bender. Total was like $4000. The insurance is picking it up.
I noticed that the hood and the right quarter panel which were bent slightly, was being repaired.. and not replaced.
Do you think I can argue for them to replace it? Do you think after a repair, these parts will be as good as new? Anyone have any similar experiences or comments?

I dunno, depends what kind of damage. $4000 is not very much considering high cost of labor.
Was there a lot of real structural damage (e.g. weight bearing support beams, signficant engine damage, etc), or was it just cosmetic (e.g. bodyshops can fix misaligned and bent panels easily)? My S4 has already been in one fender bender, been stolen/recoverd after another, and then vandalized (minor damage) and it's still going STRONG. No way would the insurance company total the car and give me enough to get another comparable S4. Don't believe some of the hype here on AudiWorld that if your car has even the slightest damage that it'll "never be the same". These cars are, for the most part, very rugged and will serve you well if repaired and maintained properly. Don't get me wrong, I tend to be a purist/perfectionist too and I can spend a whole day detailing my car, but I'm not made of money and can't buy a new car every year or put $20K into mods like some people on the board (not a rip...hey, more power to 'em). In any case good luck.

I would try to get a carbon fibre hood and fix the rear quarter panel..
It might even wind up cheaper then fixing the hood! Unless there was serious damage to the quarter panel I wouldn't replace it since it would require welding a new one into place.
