OT - Purchasing bike, 600 or 1000?
#3
I bought a 600 for my first bike. A 1000 will have a lot more trq. It's different on the road. You
can still hit 100 pretty fast. If not a 1000 get a 750. It's right in between, but that also depends on the company.

From riding my friends 636, I'd say 600.
Then again depends on what you want. He's got a Kawasaki Ninja 636R. Redline is very high, around 15k. I liked it, never even went near WOT; I don't ride crotch-rockets often, primarily dirtbikes like yourself.
He's thinking about givin his 636 to another family member and moving on to a 1000cc bike. His reasoning is that he wants more power in lower rpms, instead of needing to go into the high rpm range. It takes a bit for these bikes to heat up. Just go ride a 600 and see what happens.

all bikes if you don't respect it and understand that everyone else on the rode is an idiot.
Ride at your means, that means taking the courses, and taking small trips in the backroads where these are less cars, or less cars at speed.
I think a 600 is enough power for most of us, unless your taking long freeway hauls and need the size and power, a 600 to dart around on is plenty, especially at todays horsepower ratings.

ninja zx-6r, just need to make up my mind on the size. my heart says 1000, my brain says 600. sounds like the 600 (636) may be the one though. besides, the zx-6r matches the s!

I liked the flickability of my cbr600. That's where the fun is.
I rarely had a chance to take full advantage of the bike's power on the road, but I took advantage of it's handling on almost every ride. I always thought a liter bike was all about compensation.
