One of the most dissapointing days of my automotive life. My S4 deal fell through. Amazing.

05/02 See car on Ebay 4 hours after it is posted, contact seller to let him know my interest (this is the day after I sold my car). I place a bid on the car right away.
5/03 Seller replies with phone number, we talk about price, agree on 22,000USD shipped.
5/04 I place deposit on VIN number via Paypal and we have an agreement that I can come inspect the car as soon as he has time in his shedule. I agree.
5/05 Seller tells me he cannot get his hookup on the free shipping, wants another 1,000. I meet him half way, we settle on 22,500. (bad move by me, I already had his word regardless of hookup)
5/06-5/16 I call the seller and he answers, we talk about car a ton, I am completely set on picking it up. I tell him I have cash in hand on the day we agreed on the price, told him I can fly in with a days notice across the country to do the deal. (that is some pretty ****ing good terms imo)
Basically this whole time he keeps telling me that he is busy, doesnt have time, is going out of town to europe the 16th. I am like great, I can fly out any day you want, you name it, I will be there. I have cash in hand. He tells me that he cannot get ahold of his dad (he is 26 and is the title owner on the car) to let him know of the sale. His dad was the original owner and signed the title off ot his son in 2004.
I am getting thrown around a bit, he keeps telling me he will call me the next day and the next day. I call him daily. He tells me that he cannot get ahold of his dad and will have to wait until the 11th when he gets back from vacation. Fine with me, I can wait.
Next I hear his dad needs to drive the car because he really likes the car and could care less about selling it. Meanwhile I am thinking what does this matter, it is your car and you have the title, we have an agreement. He said his dad will need the car until the 14th. I say ok, I can be there the 15th in FL (2300 fvcking miles away) at the drop of a pin.
He calls me the 15th and tells me that his dad is being stubborn and wants to keep the car around until he is back from Europe. That is the 30th of June. Great, just great. I thought YOU owned the car, not your dad. (He does own the car apparently, no fvcking idea why he would care what his dad says).
So pretty much I just got taken for the last 15 days, with the owner assuring me that the car was mine and I had a deposit on the VIN number. He kept telling me the 20th at the latest and now today he calls me "on the plane" and says that his dad wants the car until he feels he is "ready" to let him sell it. He said his dad bought the car originally and really likes it, he does not want to drive any other cars. (I offered to PAY for a brand new Audi rental car for a week.)
So now he calls me on the plane and tells me that it could be Late July to early August until his dad is ready to let him sell it (WHY THE FVCK would someone put it on EBAY, accept my deposit, LET ME GET PLANE TICKETS and assure me we can do the deal before the 16th if this is what happens?)
I am pissed off beyond belief. I already ordered a plethora of parts for it, and priced out a ton of mods. So far I have bought the following:
New K04s
Gaskets
Tranny, Diff and Brake Fluids (Motul)
Oil
Schedualed an Appt with exhuast shop to install dumps
Dumps
Full exhuast
About to purchase tires and wheels
Just about pulled the trigger on NAV
and have been debating which seats to get.
I am royally pissed and I guess it is all my fault because I did not set a date on the Deposit. Note to self: Set a deadline when negotiating, stupid me, that is the number two rule of negotiation. I thought I was assured the car and thought nothing of it.
If I had a legal statement that I included in the paypal transaction saying a DATE as well as securing the vin number, maybe he would have had to release it from me.
On the ebay auction I bid 35,000 because he said I could bid whatever I wanted because he was closing the auction for me.
I prob could have gotten screwed over on that one as well if he didnt close the auction.
I am beside myself, have a ****load of parts, and do not know what to do. Pretty much going after that car is like shooting in the dark. WOW, just WOW.
The seller (young man) was very honest thoughout the whole thing and wanted to sell me the car but that does not make my situation seem any better. I don't know what to do, I really wanted that fvcking car. (Had big plans)
I guess my search for a low mile casa will continue....with a smaller budget thanks to the mods I already purchased.

Wow...if that happened to me I'd show up at his house and beat the F**ing crap out of the kid
for making me fly out there...and not leave until I got him to pony up the cash to pay for my flight back. But thats just me

Wow, that's a raw deal. That guy is scum, or his father is. You simply don't offer a car for sale,
accept an offer, and then back out. If he had any self respect he'd offer you some compensation for the jerking around he did.
