Default OE Suspension? Ehhh?

Once upon a time, I was happy with the handling of my S4. Now 5-6 years later... 85,000 miles later(123k on odo) the suspension is getting quite tired.

I just want my OE ride back to handle the poopy Seattle roads and still gain the remembered driving experience I had.

Everyone here with rock hard coilovers and 19" wheels with rubber painted on won't understand me. I'm not going to track it, I'm not racing anything.

So what is recommended to get my OE ride back? I don't even have a clue where to look? A link or suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Chad

I'm in the same boat as you (114,000) and looking at either the Stasis street sports or just plain Koni's or the Eibach Pro Street S if I decide I want to lean a little more aggressive. I haven't yet had a ride in any of them and that's why I'm still undecided but according to the archives, those tend to the be the best suited for a minor improvement over stock with good daily driver characteristics.

Buy stock shocks/struts again, replace all bushings , get an alignment and its a done deal.

Those sound promising. Thanks for the tip. I need to read more on them.

Thanks!

I just put on a set of Vogtland coil overs (from PureMS) and am pretty happy with them. They don't feel to harsh on Michigan's roads, and feel really solid in the corners. I'm on stock wheels with Michelin Pilot A/S+ (tired of paying for tires every 20k miles) with ~175k on the stock suspension before changing out the spring and shocks. Unfortunately, I don't remember how "harsh" the stock suspension was since mine was pretty worn out but I know it didn't handle this well before the Vogtlands.

If you want an OE ride you need new OE parts. ECS usually has them cheap and in stock.

I disagree. I have the konis and preffered stock honestly. konis seem very under damped, sometimes clunky. I may try the vogtland springs next.. I need to keep the ride height relatively high tho

I thought that the Stasis kit uses Vogtland springs? Or are you talking about running a set of stock shocks with the Vogtland springs?

I saw that Achtuning is running a special on the Vogtland GT coilovers for $1150 on AZ and QW. Apparently the GTs have different springs than the regular kits to correct the understeer better. Might be worth it to give them a call, they're in the Seattle area as well
