I'm a little tight with money now; can I drop the S by just swaping the springs w/ other after mar
market springs such as H&R or koni? what else would I need?
Any issues?

Yes, but it isn't suggested.
If your car were new and your shocks were in good shape I'd say it's a better possibility of have some success.
But chances are your shocks are already well past their useful life. Lowering the car on these stock shocks is just asking for a poor ride, and crummy handling.
A coilover kit is a spring/shock combination that's height (and sometimes also damping) adjustable. It's a matched set that you can adjust to alter the height exactly where you want it to be.
