How long do people typically wait (not recommended, but actual) between synthetic (Mobil 1) changes?

Default Correct. It has no shearing effect and viscosity is very very close to a 40.
Check around the site a bit more there are lots of threads about it.

I'd say so - - my oil analyses were done on oil with 60-70% highway driving....3000 is just overkill
