Default How is the B5 roof held on?

I want to do a project with somebody to make a CF roof, but my buddy reported to me that his roof is rivetted on. IS the roof only held on by these rivets or is the whole thing welded on? Any body guys here know?

I strap my gf up there to hold it down, though she gets a little screamy past 150mph.

Sounds like yours didn't come with the detachable hardtop option.

Default The roof is is the body of the car. You would have to cut out the roof clip and mold the carbon to

the body.

Default It is supposed to be spot welded. You can drill them and remove the

whole thing fairly easily from what I've been told(by people who have actually done it).

Default The welded roof is vital to the rigidity of the car. Replacing it with bolted CF will make --->

---> your car twist and bend.

Default really,,,, my roof is a flat piece of a sheet with zero inner supports.

I had my headliner out today to have a dent popped out and was very suprised just to see how unstructural the roof skin actually is. If done right, a properly constructed (not some hand layed RTC piece, but a proper autoclaved unit) piece of carbon that was properly bonded down would def provide more structural support than the existing piece ever could.

Default It's spot welded and then some . . . trust me . . . Mbww

After blowing through $40 worth of spot weld cutters trying to save the non-sunroof roof . . . I decided to call in the big guns and socially engineer a discount for our little problem.
